CBD Oil, what is it, how is it used and is it even legal?

Over the past few years, you might have heard of CBD Oil, or known someone who has tried it. It's a flourishing industry that's projected to hit $16billion in the US by 2025, and the extract is already making its way into anything from food to infused teas and coffees, everyone from Kim Kardashian West to Martha Stewarts French bulldog seems to have partaken in using the oil. But for the uninitiated, you might be thinking, but what on earth is CBD Oil, isn't it just cannabis?

Like many, I fell into the camp that just thought CBD was cannabis and I certainly didn't understand the difference or breadth of uses there were for CBD... let alone that it doesn't get you high. I had heard that many people were using it to cure common ailments, help manage anxiety as well as aches and pains and even that it was being used by people for parkinsons, and so in the spirit of education, I reached out to the team and founder (Lewis Rixon) of We Are Kynd to understand just what CBD oil is, how it's used and the pressing question I had over whether it was even legal?

  • What is CBD oil?

CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of the most abundant natural compounds found in the cannabis or hemp plant. There are actually over 100 chemical compounds found in the plants themselves!

  • Isn't CBD oil to do with cannabis, is it legal in the UK/Europe?

Yes, CBD is derived from the cannabis plant itself.  It is a plant that makes a thick substance full of compounds called Cannabinoids. It is legal in the UK and most European countries so long as it contains no more than 0.2% THC, but we always suggest you do your research when travelling abroad or check out our user guide for travelling with CBD https://wearekynd.com/pages/can-i-travel-with-cbd-oil

  • Will CBD oil make me high?

No, CBD will not make you “high” as it is a non-psychoactive substance, basically, it does not change a persons state of mind when using it. It is THC that is the active chemical compound that gives the “high”.

  • How do I use CBD oil, how do I choose the right product for me?

At We Are Kynd we recommend if you are new to CBD oil that you start on our lower 4% dose and work your way up to the slightly stronger strengths of 8% or 15% as that gives your own endocannabinoid system in your body the chance to pick up that you are using CBD oil. It may take a bit of time for your system to fully react and show the results you are waiting for so be patient. Drop the oil under your tongue, one drop at a time (we recommend using a mirror at first) and hold in your mouth for at least 1 to 2 minutes as this gets it straight into the bloodstream quicker.  This is a natural product and with all supplements, it is about being consistent. You can literally be your own doctor in a sense and have peace of mind that you cannot overdose with CBD being a natural product. When you find the dose that works for you stick with it but you can always adjust if you feel you need to at any time.

  • Is CBD oil organic?

It is actually not that the CBD oil itself is organic, it is the plant that it is derived from.  These means that the plant should have been grown or produced without the use of fertilizers, heavy metals and pesticides.

  • What is CBD oil meant to do?

CBD is a popular, safe and natural remedy being used more and more to treat common ailments. It also helps bring the body back to homeostasis which is another word for balance.  CBD oil may produce significant changes in the body helping with pain relief, inflammation, insomnia, anxiety, Parkinson's to name but a few.  It is becoming increasingly popular to those people looking for a natural alternative to pharmaceutical drugs. As a company, we must stipulate that as with all CBD products we are not permitted to make any medical claims so we always suggest you do your own research on the internet regarding medical conditions.

  • How does one take CBD oil, capsules, diffusers, topical?

When taking CBD oil we recommend that you place the drops using the dropper under your tongue and allow the oil to stay there for at least 1 to 2 minutes before swallowing as this enables it to get into the bloodstream quicker.

Our capsules can be swallowed with water as and when desired and our balm can be applied directly onto the skin and gently rubbed in.  Our Balm is not only used for sore, aching muscles and joints but also very popular for the relief of some skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

  • Are there any side effects of using CBD?

Because CBD is a natural product side effects are minimal and it is generally well-tolerated, however, some people may get a dry mouth, feel slightly light-headed or drowsy, diarrhoea or reduced appetite but these are individual to every user and many report no side effects whatsoever.

  • How do you spot a bad CBD oil product?

Some of the main signs to look out for to spot a bad CBD oil product is low pricing, has the product been tested by third-party laboratories, does the product contain more than 0.02% THC, how has the oil been extracted and big promises and claims to cure all health conditions.

  • What inspired the founder, Lewis Rixon, to launch We Are Kynd?

I have always been an advocate of natural remedies as an alternative to artificial counterparts. I believe that in life, we are a product of our actions and what we put into our bodies to aid normal function, therefore surely we should only be using the good stuff, products we trust will be kynd to our bodies! I knew I wanted to incorporate my passions into a career.

An accumulation of events & adventures then lead me to do something I truly believe in and am passionate about. At the start of 2018, I moved to Bali and had my eyes opened to a different way of living, a healthier way of living. I felt truly inspired. I was surrounded by like-minded people who were making the lifestyle I wanted a reality for themselves. There are lots of young, entrepreneurial people in Bali setting up their own businesses or freelancing. I had known about CBD and the benefits for a long time and had an interest and was tracking the market and it suddenly made perfect sense for me to set up my own company in this field. It stands for everything I believe in after all. Being in this amazing part of the world, surrounded by nature and an incredibly healthy way of... it is what Bali is very much about.  My passion for the health benefits associated with CBD oil and it’s pain relief properties I guess were also cultivated from being in an all-natural environment. And so We Are Kynd was born.

Having tried and tested the products myself and travelled the world to source the best possible combination of products I am proud of where we are now and where I see We Are Kynd going and the difference we can potentially make in other peoples lives with this incredible natural product.

As we evolve and grow as a legitimate provider within the CBD market, it is our priority to lead the way in supplying the purest products, instil trust in our brand, and focus on sustainable production. Here at We Are Kynd integrity & the customer is at the forefront of everything we do.
