Hold up - we've got the quickest and easiest hacks for cleaning your bathroom naturally!
First things first, cut out the harsh cleaning products for your general bathroom cleaning. This means sink, bath, toilet (but not toilet bowl), and any window sills and other surfaces. A standard bathroom cleaner will have ingredients like synthetic perfume or anionic surfactants which come with some not-so-friendly baggage. We won't go into details here, but we'd recommend doing some research if you’re interested.
Instead of conventional bathroom cleaners, use our Eco-friendly lavender bathroom cleaner (obviously). Why? Well, aside from being 90% naturally derived and free from harsh chemicals, it also includes a whole load of ingredients which are good for your bathroom!
Lavender and rosemary oil have antibacterial properties to help leave surfaces clean, but also smell ah-maz-ing. In fact, rosemary oil has been used for centuries as an antibacterial herb in ancient medicine.
The most important ingredient in our bathroom cleaner is citric acid. Citric acid comes from citrus fruits, usually lemons, works well to lift dirt and grime.
The most exciting part of our bathroom cleaner? LIMESCALE. Yes, it works! Even when products like Cif might not. The trick is to leave on affected areas which seem like the limescale is stuck for good. Try about 10 minutes or while you clean the rest of the bathroom, then wipe off! If the limescale has built up for a long time, it might take a few tries for it to work its magic.
But what about the toilet bowl? This is where you might have to ramp up your game with some DIY. Bleach can have a number of bad side effects, like respiratory problems and skin irritation, which is why we'd recommend using this recipe:
- 1 cup distilled water
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup castile soap
- 15-30 drops of essential oil (lavender, grape fruit, lemon or orange)
- Hydrogen peroxide.
Et voila - your bathroom routine has been transformed!
