So you're in lockdown, practising social distancing and generally all-round trying your best to be a great person and not spread this virus... but, you're going crazy from lack of movement, you've powered through all the snacks and your outside clothes are starting to feel a little tight... or you just haven't put them on at all. Your mind turns to how to keep fit during the lockdown and all you can think off is 80's style aerobic tapes and the Pussycat Dolls home workout dance DVD which you couldn't even play because everything is online.
Here are our top 3 tips for staying in shape during lockdown/social distancing
-
Go for a run or a long walk
If you are lucky enough to be allowed outside for exercise take advantage of this and go for a run or a long powerwalk, the fresh air will not only refresh your mind, but cardio is a great way to get the blood flowing and give you an endorphin boost. -
Get onto Instagram!
No, we don't mean so you can sit and mindlessly scroll through pages and pages of food. Instagram is a great way to find different workout styles, and many gyms and trainers are offering online classes via video conferencing which gives you the added bonus of a little human interaction too. -
Download some workout apps and sweat it out in the living room
You don't need to have a home gym to exercise, and there are many things in our home that can double as weights, you could use 1L water bottles for instance, or any really heavy books you might have. My favourite workout app for home I SWEAT, but there are so many others, Asana Rebel is a great one for those of you like yoga but want to work up a sweat as well.
