We often highlight that everyone's body is different. But skin is such a sensitive topic as it affects everyone differently. In fact, it's so diverse that it makes it difficult to know how to properly remedy. For example, just because you have oily skin, it doesn't mean that the best option is to strip your skin of its natural oil. Likewise, it might not be the best remedy to moisturize it with natural-oily products.
While we might not be able to give you the magic spell to cure your skin problems, we would encourage you to try natural soap products. Synthetic products can have so many negative effects on our skin. So despite their promise to help eczema, acne or dry skin, they might not actually cure it. Instead, give nature a chance for a while.
Here's a selection of, in our opinion, the best natural soap for all kinds of different skin issues.
Oily, combination, and blemish-prone skin types
Sister & co. know how to do natural soap. And by this, we're specifically referring to their charcoal soap bar. The activated bamboo charcoal draws impurities and toxins from deep inside your pores for the ultimate deep cleanse. It's made with shea butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil and olive oil. It's gentle yet effective, and therefore is brilliant for oily, combination and blemish-prone skin.
Combination: dry & acne
Our favourite natural soap: our KINN body wash. If you struggle with a mix of dry and acne-prone skin, or either separately, our body wash should be your go-to. The lavender oil it contains is great for balancing your skin'd moisture barrier so it doesn't become too oily or dry. Because lavender is oil balancing, this means it is also good for acne or oily skin. We also use ylang ylang essential oil which is antiseptic and therefore useful for fighting unwanted bacteria that may produce spots.
Sensitive skin
We don't just love Nini Organics because all their products are handmade, but because they work. This Nathalie Bond Bloom Soap is fantastic for sensitive skin because of the French pink clay it contains but also the calming scent of rose and patchouli. If you have sensitive skin, you'll probably struggle with finding soap that doesn't irritate it or make it sting. This is a very gentle soap with a silky smooth texture and will leave you feeling pampered and looked after!
Acne
Made in the Scottish Highlands, Selkie Soap co. might just have the product you're looking for to naturally help acne: Black Pepper & Ginger. Black pepper has anti-microbial and antiseptic qualities and reates a warm, spicy aroma. The ginger essential oil in this soap makes it incredibly soothing and therefore great for healing acne.
Eczema
Eczema is especially hard to treat. So we've found two different options- one for body, one for face.
Cocoa butter facial cleansing bar
Facial skin is extra sensitive, and one of the least favourite places to have eczema. The cocoa butter in this Friendly soap bar has a rich blend of fatty acids and antioxidants which helps soothe dry skin. Coincidentally this also helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The soap claims to be packed full of vitamin A, contains 1/3 cocoa butter, 1/3 coconut oil, 1/3 olive oil, water and that's it! Soap-heaven in our view!!
Soapy Skin goats milk soap
Soapy Skin have a honey oats soap which was specially created for those suffering from eczema, psoriasis, acne and other skin problems. This sop is rich in vitamins, minerals and fatty acids which work to remove irritation, moisturize and repair damaged skin. Ground oats provide a gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and can brighten dull skin! Ground oats are also know to be a remedy for acne. Soapy Skin add honey to this soap because of its natural anti-oxidant and anti-microbial properties. It might also bring moisture to eczema-prone skin.
