Unpackaged: Planet Organic
Planet Organic is the UK's largest certified organic supermarket. Apart from being organic, they're also game changing with their zero waste in four of their stores. You can buy legumes, grains, store cupboard goods and more with your own containers. These four stores are in Muswell Hill, Westbourne Grove, Islington and Torrington Place.
Hetu, London
Hetu is South London's best zero waste store. It's been in Clapham for 2 years now. They have a mission to change the world with one of humanity's most powerful tool: our buying power. Not only is the store zero waste, it's also vegan, meaning its doubly great for the environment. Hetu offer whole foods in bulk and sustainable, reusable products. Their wholefoods claim to be as close to their original form as possible, plant based, unprocessed and unrefined. When you buy from Hetu, you're helping their aim to turn consumerism on its head. Remember to bring your own containers!
Get Loose, London
Part of Hackney City Farm, Get Loose products have 0 disposable packaging. They sell a range of fresh and dried organic produce, in loose, non-plastic packaging. Get loose isn't just your average zero waste store (if there was ever such a thing), but it's an experience in itself visiting the Farm.
BYO London
In the heart of Tooting market lies BYO London - one of our favourite zero waste stores. The owners are fanatic about a low impact lifestyle. They have been inspired by their travels to some of the most exotic and wonderful places, which are sadly home to some of the most polluted beaches, mountains and cities. Their goal is to no longer be a specialist store as zero waste packaging becomes the norm!
The Source Bulk Foods
Last year, Australian brand The Source Bulk Foods came to Chiswick. Now with a new opening in Battersea, The Source is taking London by storm. Owners, Patrick and Makayla, have a mantra that Zero waste is more than just a philosophy, it's a lifestyle - one that starts with small steps to rethink the way we shop. The Source has a vast range of products from coffee to acai power, from organic chocolate buttons to toasted sesame oil - you could pretty much do your whole weekly shop there!
